Four New Residential Projects Planned for Montreal’s Most Vulnerable Populations

A new partnership between Canada’s federal government, Quebec’s provincial government and Montreal’s municipal government has allocated $37.48 million to create four residential projects in Montreal for city’s most vulnerable populations.

Two developments will assist people experiencing homelessness – the Saint-Antoine Est Project, which will offer 35 studios, and the Pavillon du Plateau project, which is provide 70 rooms. The other two developments are designed for low-income families and single individuals – the Coop Les Jardins Project will provide 16 units and the Coopérative d’habitation L’Escale project will offer 21 units.

The Canadian federal government is contributing over $6.24 million through the Affordable Housing Fund, while Quebec’s government is investing over $20.6 million through the Société d’habitation du Québec’s Programme d’habitation abordable Québec. Montreal’s municipal government contributed $8.68 million to all the projects.

“Our government is committed to helping communities strengthen their capacity to develop local solutions to housing and homelessness needs,” said Minister of Housing and Infrastructure Gregor Robertson. “This housing project will provide more safe and affordable housing for some of Montréal’s most vulnerable residents. It’s also another step toward building an economy that works for everyone.”
