The realtor associations in Colorado and Georgia are providing financial assistance to homeowners impacted in the recent wildfires within their respective states.
The Colorado Association of Realtors Foundation is providing up to $1,500 per household to assist homeowners whose residences were damaged or destroyed in the wildfires burning across the state. The funding is available on a first-come, first-serve basis and the assistance must be used for either the monthly mortgage expenses on a primary residence damaged by a wildfire or to cover rental costs resulting from displacement. The deadline for application submission is Sept. 8.
Separately, assistance is still available from Georgia Association Realtors (GAR), which has teamed with the Realtors Relief Foundation, a division of the National Association of Realtors, to help residents with housing-related expenses incurred from April’s wildfires.
The Georgia wildfires impacted more than 90 counties across the state, with more than 50,000 impacted. Hundreds of families were forced to evacuate from the disaster.
Applications for assistance were first made available on June 26 and will remain available to eligible residents through midnight on July 15.
“We know that recovery after a natural disaster can be overwhelming for families and communities,” said GAR President Brianne Drake, adding, “We are committed to helping Georgians access housing support and resources as they begin rebuilding their lives.”
