Sun Communities Inc. (NYSE: SUI). a real estate investment trust that owns and operates manufactured housing and recreational vehicle communities, has hired Robert Garechana as executive vice president and chief financial officer, effective Sept. 8.
Garechana succeeds Fernando Castro-Caratini, who will transition to an advisory role with the company. Prior to joining the Southfield, Michigan-based company, he was executive vice president and chief investment officer at REIT Equity Residential (NYSE: EQR).
Garechana has also served as a member of the Nareit CFO Council and on the board of directors at the nonprofit Upwardly Global, where he was the treasurer of the operating committee.
