Tal, Oren and Alon Alexander were each sentenced Tuesday to 30 years in federal prison following their convictions in a sex-trafficking case that exposed years of abuse connected to the brothers’ wealthy social circle.
U.S. District Judge Valerie Caproni imposed the sentences October 27 in Manhattan after hearing statements from women who described lasting harm from sexual assaults. The Associated Press reported the sentences from the courtroom.
Sentences Follow March Convictions
The brothers were convicted in March of sex trafficking and related offenses. Prosecutors had sought life sentences, while defense attorneys asked for the mandatory minimum of 15 years. The brothers continued to deny criminal wrongdoing when they addressed the court Tuesday.
Tal and Oren were formerly prominent luxury real estate brokers known for high-end transactions and celebrity clients. Alon worked in the family’s security business. The case drew widespread attention because prosecutors said the men used their wealth and access to luxury properties and travel to target women.
At sentencing, multiple women described how the assaults affected their lives. Prosecutors said more than 70 women had reported assaults by one or more of the brothers. That figure reflects the prosecution’s account and is not a count of separate convictions.
The 30-year terms represent the court’s sentence for each defendant, not a combined sentence. Written judgments and any subsequent appeal filings should be monitored for further developments.
