Summary
BSR REIT began trading on the New York Stock Exchange under its new symbol.
BSR Real Estate Investment Trust began trading on the New York Stock Exchange on October 14 under the ticker BSRT, completing the U.S. listing the company announced last week.
The NYSE confirmed the trading debut during its opening-bell ceremony, attended by BSR president and CEO Dan Oberste. That confirmation is a material update to WRE News’s earlier report, when the exchange had approved the listing but trading had not begun.
BSR is a Canadian-organized real estate investment trust with a portfolio of garden-style apartment communities in U.S. Sun Belt markets. The new venue gives investors a major U.S. exchange on which to trade units of a company whose real estate holdings are concentrated in the United States.
The company previously said its Canadian-dollar Toronto listing would change from HOM.UN to BSRT.UN. Its U.S.-dollar Toronto listing was scheduled to end October 13, and OTCQX trading was also expected to cease as the NYSE listing began.
The listing does not itself represent a new property purchase or equity issuance. Nor does it guarantee improved liquidity or valuation. Those outcomes will depend on investor demand and the REIT’s underlying apartment operations, including occupancy, rents, expenses and debt costs.
The NYSE record confirms the previously scheduled October 14 milestone occurred.
