A homebuyer in Burlington, Connecticut, who acquired a home in an “as is” foreclosure auction discovered the skeletal remains of three people in the residence.
According to Patch.com, the bodies were discovered Sunday afternoon and were taken to the state Office of the Chief Medical Examiner. As of this writing, the cause of death for the three bodies and their identities were not determined.
“There is no indication of anything suspicious and no indication of any criminal aspect,” said the state police in a statement. “This appears to be an isolated incident and there is no danger to the public at this time.”
Data from the assessor’s office determined the 2,800-square-foot residence was last owned by Paul and Sally Anne Cash, who bought it for $535,000 in 2019. A foreclosure action was initiated against them in August 2025, but the couple did not appear during the proceedings.
The case is being investigated by the Connecticut State Police Western District Major Crime Squad.

The good news is that they all still voted democrat.
Funny! ;>) And probably true.
How sad! Maybe they died and that is why the home went into foreclosure. Some people are isolated to the point that nobody visits them. I pray that no foul play is found to have taken place.
Carbon monoxide?!
So the first comment is … Did no one miss them???? Who was collecting their mail. Did they have neighbors and if so was it not suspicious to no see traffic in and out of the home? Did the work?? and if so, did no one miss them???? and if the people turned into Skeletons- how long has it been since no one missed them???
And it speaks of a couple, but says 3 skelatal remains???
Purchased below market value via foreclosure sale, the new owner discovered 3 skeletal bodies in the basement…
Fire department found no carbon monoxide present, but the deaths obviously occurred months earlier… Police report no readily apparent cause of death…
NOTE: IF the prior owners died in the basement and the loan subsequently went into default , one atty. theorizes the foreclosure sale occurred with due notice, meaning it could be void because any heirs were entitled to due notice and the opportunity to cure the default.
Especially, “as is”, I always advise my clients to have a timely home inspection !
Correction:
If the sale occurred … WITHOUT … due notice
