Dark Matter Technologies has acquired the artificial intelligence agent platform and intellectual property of House Numbers, bringing a team of mortgage automation specialists into its lending technology business.

The Jacksonville, Florida-based company announced the acquisition October 30, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. Eastern. Financial terms and the transaction’s precise closing date were not disclosed.

Mortgage AI team joins Dark Matter

House Numbers co-founder and chief executive Jeff Levinsohn has become Dark Matter’s chief AI officer. Fellow founders Arthur Granado and Benjamin Hoffman joined as vice president of engineering and vice president of AI adoption and enablement, respectively.

Founded in 2021, House Numbers built technology that monitors loan files, handles loan conditions, recommends next steps and communicates with borrowers and lenders. Dark Matter said the platform has operated in production for two years and processed loans for more than 100 lenders. Those figures are company-reported, not independently audited market-share statistics.

How the technology could change mortgage processing

Dark Matter intends to integrate the acquired capabilities into its Empower loan origination system, built-in point-of-sale technology and other products. The company described a shift toward software handling repetitive tasks while mortgage professionals review exceptions and make consequential decisions.

The platform uses task-specific access controls, human oversight and audit trails, according to the announcement. These safeguards are described by the company; the announcement does not independently establish compliance outcomes or quantified lender savings.

In an interview with HousingWire, Dark Matter CEO Vikas Rao said the technology supports 19 AI-agent use cases already in production. He described potential savings in origination expenses but did not report independently verified savings achieved through this acquisition.

What lenders should watch

The acquisition illustrates how mortgage technology providers are incorporating AI directly into origination workflows rather than offering it solely as a separate tool. Integration timelines, customer adoption, measurable productivity gains and regulatory performance remain important questions.

Dark Matter said lenders should begin seeing new capabilities in the weeks following the announcement, with additional functionality planned later. Those dates are forward-looking expectations.
