Ginnie Mae issued $53.1 billion in total mortgage-backed securities (MBS) during July, resulting in net portfolio growth of $20.5 billion.
Last month’s issuance grew the agency’s MBS portfolio outstanding grew to $2.99 trillion. In addition, Ginnie Mae facilitated the pooling and securitization of 408,854 first-time homebuyer loans year-to-date.
The July issuance included $51.3 billion in Ginnie Mae II MBS and $1.8 billion in Ginnie Mae I MBS, including $1.7 billion for multifamily housing loans. This encompassed the pooling and securitization of loans for more than 154,000 American households, including more than 69,000 first-time homebuyers.
