Simple Content Summary: Michigan’s Glover Agency became independent on November 1 after 17 years with Keller Williams. Founder Jeff Glover says the separation gives his agents more branding flexibility and allows his coaching company to work without a franchise affiliation.

One of Michigan’s highest-producing real estate teams has left Keller Williams. Glover Agency, founded by Jeff Glover in 2008, became an independent brokerage on November 1, 2026, according to a firsthand interview Glover gave to Inman.

The move follows Glover’s August sale of ownership stakes in three Keller Williams market centers. That earlier divestiture did not itself end the team’s franchise affiliation; the November change does.

Why Glover chose independence

Glover told Inman that remaining associated with Keller Williams complicated his effort to grow Glover U, a coaching and training business that works with agents and leaders across brokerage brands. He also cited the ability for Glover Agency’s agents to market their individual identities more freely.

The company operates four Michigan offices, in Birmingham, Plymouth, Fenton and the Grand Rapids area. Glover Agency’s own website reports more than 10,000 homes sold over its history and approximately $300 million in 2025 business. These are company-reported figures, not independently audited results.

Separately, RealTrends Verified lists the team at 949 transaction sides and $317.68 million in 2025 sales volume, placing it first in Michigan by sides among the ranked teams. Its listing still identifies Keller Williams as the affiliation and may not yet reflect the November change.

What the departure signals for brokerages

The decision highlights a choice facing successful teams: whether the marketing reach and infrastructure of a national franchise outweigh the autonomy of operating under a single independent identity. Glover’s case is unusual because his coaching business creates a separate incentive to avoid affiliation with any one competing brokerage network.

The move should not be read as evidence of a broader exodus from Keller Williams. No financial terms for the separation have been disclosed, and there is no verified estimate of its financial effect on the franchise.
