Single-family housing starts in March were at a rate of 940,000, according to data from the US Census Bureau and the Department of Housing and Urban Development. This is 14.2% below the revised February figure of 1.09 million.

Privately-owned housing starts in March were at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 1.32 million, an 11.4% drop from the revised February estimate of 1.49 million but also a 1.9 % upswing from the March 2024 rate of 1.29 million.

Single-family authorizations in March were at a rate of 978,000, down 2% from the revised February figure of 998,000. Privately-owned housing units authorized by building permits in March were at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 1.48 million, a 1.6% uptick from the revised February rate of 1.45 million but a 0.2% dip from the March 2024 rate of 1.48 million.

Single-family housing completions in March were at a rate of 1.029 million, up by 0.9% from the revised February rate of 1,020 million. Privately-owned housing completions in March were at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 1.54 million, down by 2.1% from the revised February estimate of 1.58 million and up 3.9% from the March 2024 rate of 1.49 million.
