A former product manager at the National Association of Realtors (NAR) has filed a federal lawsuit claiming that she was subjected to sexual harassment by her employers.

The New York Times reported Roshani Sheth worked was a staff member at the Realtors Information Network, a NAR subsidiary now known as Realtor.com. After working for five years at the organization’s Chicago headquarters, Sheth said she was fired in 2019 for reporting male supervisors who allegedly targeted her with rude remarks about her appearance and sex life. Sheth, who is Indian American, also stated she experienced racial discrimination at NAR.

Sheth filed her lawsuit in a U.S. District Court in Illinois. Among the men cited in her complaint were Matthew Embrescia, president of the investment firm and NAR partner Second Generation, and Ken Burlington, a NAR vice president who was her supervisor.

Sheth’s complaint also stated NAR’s human resources department put her on a performance improvement plan after she complained about how she was being treated, adding she was fired the day after returning from a one-month medical leave.

NAR spokesperson Mantill Williams responded to a request for comment by stating, “The National Association of Realtors is committed to fostering a diverse, equitable and inclusive workplace. We don’t comment on matters of employment.”
