The Los Angeles home of Paul Reubens, the comic actor known for playing the zany character Pee-wee Herman in films and television, has been listed for $4.995 million.

The Wall Street Journal reported that Reubens purchased the 1.4-acre property in 1985 for $415,000 with his earnings from the hit film “Pee-wee’s Big Adventure.” The roughly 3,000-square-foot residence was built in 1957 in the Los Feliz section of the city on a hill next to Griffith Park.

Reubens, who lived at the property until his death last year at the age of 70, created a living space that matched the eccentricity of his “Pee-wee’s Playhouse” showcase. The home includes an enclosed cat patio and the home décor channeled vintage sitcom designs with Formica countertops and vintage wallpaper. The property’s gardens also feature more than 100 varieties of native shrubs and trees, and Reubens and several of his show business friends left signed handprints in the concrete around the property’s pool and hot tub.
