Warburg Pincus has made a significant investment in Awayday, a national vacation-rental management platform overseeing more than 18,000 properties across the United States.
The investment was made through the Warburg Pincus Capital Solutions Founders Fund. Awayday’s majority owners, an Ares Private Equity fund and LightBay Capital, will remain controlling shareholders. Financial terms were not disclosed.
Vacation-rental platform operates through local brands
Awayday works with independent vacation-rental operators while maintaining their local identities. The company says its portfolio is supported by more than 1,800 employees and combines national-scale technology, revenue management and marketing with locally operated brands.
Awayday said proceeds from the transaction will return capital to existing equity investors, including Ares, LightBay and rollover equity partners. The company also plans to distribute proceeds to local operators and team members involved in its growth.
The transaction gives Warburg Pincus exposure to a large U.S. vacation-rental management platform while leaving existing controlling ownership in place.
The investment is another example of institutional capital moving into technology-enabled property management and fragmented real estate operating platforms.
