Wisconsin experience 5,573 home sales in April, a 7.4% year-over-year increase, while median prices increased to $340,000, up 6.3% over the same period.
According to data from the Wisconsin Realtors Association (WRA), year-to-date sales were up 4.1% relative to the first four months of 2025 while the median price rose 4.9% to $325,000.
While this occurred, inventory remained a challenge. Even though new listings were up 5.6% compared to April 2025, the strong sales resulted in only a 0.2% uptick in total listings. Available supply fell over the last 12 months across all urban and rural markets while affordability declined 1.6% from April 2025.
“The spike in sales has put significant stress on the limited supply,” said WRA President and CEO Tom Larson. “With just 3.7 months of supply, we would need inventory to increase by nearly 62% to get to a balanced market with six months of supply. For potential sellers, this is an excellent time to list as we move into the all-important peak summer market.”
