A Mississippi man who was arrested for sexually attacking a realtor at an open house appeared in court yesterday in a wheelchair and claimed to be afflicted with Parkinson’s disease.

WAPT reports attorneys for Jerry Glynn Dennis, 64, cited medical problems in a request for a lower bail. The judge denied the request, citing as Dennis as a danger to the community. After this bail request was turned down, Dennis made a rambling statement regarding his ailments.

“First of all, I can’t even think straight,” Dennis said. “The thing about it is I’ve never done anything, had any kind of speeding ticket, been warned since the time I was 15 years old, and I’m not asking, I’m not asking to not be incarcerated. I’m just asking to be placed under a different care where it would be more suitable, because, understand, people that don’t understand Parkinson’s disease and that type thing, it makes it look like you’re physically not trying to go along with what they’re wanting you to do. Then they get aggravated and so on and so forth.”

Dennis was apprehended for an incident taking place last month in the town of Pearl. The victim, who was not identified, told investigators that she was preparing the residence for an open house when Dennis came inside and pulled a handgun. Dennis and the realtor struggled over the weapon – the victim bit Dennis’ arm and he pistol whipped her. The victim said she was then sexually assaulted, with Dennis stealing her car keys and cell phone before fleeing.

Dennis was charged with two counts of sexual battery, kidnapping and armed robbery. If he is convicted, Dennis’ incarceration could range from 30 years to life in prison.
