A Maryland auto racing track which has been dormant for decades has been listed for sale at $15 million.
The Baynet reports the 42.14-acre parcel that was once home to Marlboro Motor Raceway outside of Upper Marlboro, Maryland, is being marketed for commercial property development. The track opened 1952 and offered multiple racing configurations that included a dirt oval, a paved oval and road course layouts for sports car racing.
The track was associated with Sports Car Club of America events and hosted regional and national racing until it closed following the 1969 racing season. It also hosted motorcycle racing and was used as a training facility by the Maryland State Police. Over the years, the property changed hands several times, but development plans never took root.
The listing said the land includes approximately 1.8 million square feet, with public water and electricity available at the site.
