The board of trustees at Bastyr University has approved a resolution to list its campus in Kenmore, Washington, for sale.

The campus encompasses over 50 acres and is based 10 miles from downtown Seattle on the northeast shore of Lake Washington inside Saint Edward State Park. The university purchased the campus from the Archdiocese of Seattle in 2005, and its largest building is a five-story, 175,000-square-foot structure built in 1954.

Once a full or partial sale occurs, Bastyr University plans to relocate to a new campus in the Seattle area. The university offers doctorate, graduate, undergraduate degrees and certificates in the natural health arts and sciences.

“Like so many systems in our culture, higher education is navigating rapid change,” said Bastyr University Board of Trustees Chairwoman Carol Taylor. “It is responsible governance to examine institutional resources, and plan and protect the university for the future so it can remain approachable for students and fulfill its mission to educate the future leaders in the natural health arts and sciences.”
