Summary

Century Communities acquired substantially all of HistoryMaker Homes assets, tripling its Dallas-Fort Worth community count. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Century Communities acquired substantially all the assets of HistoryMaker Homes, the family-owned Texas builder founded in 1949, in a transaction the buyer says will triple its Dallas–Fort Worth selling-community count.

The October 8 announcement identifies the acquired business as HMH Lifestyles, L.P., operating as HistoryMaker Homes. Financial terms were not disclosed, and Century did not publish the number of communities or lots added.

HistoryMaker, based in Grapevine, has operated exclusively in Dallas–Fort Worth and says it has completed roughly 25,000 homes over more than 75 years. Its existing division leadership and staff will join Century’s combined regional operation, also based in Grapevine.

Century said home construction, sales and closings will proceed as scheduled. Customers already under contract will continue working with their HistoryMaker teams. Those assurances matter because acquisition announcements often leave homebuyers uncertain about warranty support, build schedules and points of contact.

HistoryMaker’s sister businesses Jabez Development and ONM Living are not part of the acquisition and remain independently owned. Century said it will maintain a land-development relationship with Jabez on selected communities and explore future opportunities together.

The acquisition gives Century more local operating density in a major homebuilding market while rates and affordability constrain demand. According to Builder, Century ranked tenth on the 2026 Builder 100 list and HistoryMaker ranked 77th. Those rankings describe prior production scale, not expected post-merger results.

Century operates across 16 states and more than 45 U.S. markets. It also owns mortgage, title, insurance brokerage and escrow subsidiaries. That integrated model may allow the acquired communities to draw on existing financing and closing infrastructure, although the company has not detailed integration schedules for those businesses.

WRE News recently covered Berkshire Hathaway’s expanded stake in Lennar, a different example of capital moving into the homebuilding sector. The HistoryMaker transaction is an operating acquisition: it changes who controls an existing regional builder and its land pipeline immediately.

The most important unanswered questions are the purchase price, incremental lot count and financial contribution. Century has not released those figures, so claims about earnings accretion or future deliveries would be premature.
