The plans for a sprawling biotech park in Connecticut that were unveiled in April 2023 have been quietly canceled.

Ryan Companies, a Minnesota-based developer, proposed the creation of 120-acre HealthTech Park on former farmland located along Interstate 95 outside of New Haven. The development was envisioned with more than 500,000 square feet of laboratory space, along with facilities to host research and development endeavors by life sciences companies and manufacturing for healthcare companies. The first two phases of the project were to involve a pair of buildings ranging in space between 100,000 and 150,000 square feet.

According to CT Insider, a spokeswoman for Ryan Companies reported the developer “is no longer pursuing the development” but offered no further details. Perry Maresca, economic and business development manager for the Town of Branford, where the site would have been located, said Ryan Companies pulled the plug because it was unable to sign an anchor tenant to the development and “because of the length of time it was going to take to get the project going.”
