A federal office building in San Francisco that was named in honor of former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi in December is reportedly being considered for sale by the Trump administration.
Fox News reports the 18-story Nancy Pelosi Federal Building, formerly known as the San Francisco Federal Building, is located in a section of the city where the crime rate is so high that office workers were told to work from home out of concerns for their safety. Last December, the Federal Protective Service ratcheted up security at the site following the ceremony renaming the building for Pelosi, who represented San Francisco in the House of Representatives since 1987.
The building, which opened in 2007 as a “green building” at a cost of $144 million, was declared by Trump in 2020 as “one of the ugliest structures in their city.” The Trump administration is also reportedly considering the sale of 50 United Nations Plaza, a 1930s-era building which houses the General Services Administration regional offices.
Since taking office, the administration has been working to jettison office properties from the federal government’s real estate portfolio.
