NEW YORK — Sun Life’s institutional investment management business is bringing five established investment firms, including global real estate manager BGO, together under the GreenOak brand, creating a unified identity for a platform overseeing approximately $326 billion in assets.

SLC Management announced the move Monday, October 26, 2026, at 8 a.m. Eastern. The branding transition will roll out over the next 12 months. Sun Life Financial will retain majority ownership and control.

Five businesses, one brand

The consolidation of brands covers BGO, which manages real estate investments; Crescent Capital, an alternative-credit manager; InfraRed Capital Partners, an infrastructure specialist; SLC Fixed Income; and Advisors Asset Management, a distribution and investment-services business.

Sonny Kalsi, previously a senior leader in Sun Life’s real estate investment operations, will serve as GreenOak’s president and chief executive officer. The company says the platform has more than 31 offices across 15 countries.

Importantly, the $326 billion figure is the combined platform’s assets under management as of June 30, 2026, encompassing real estate, infrastructure, credit and fixed income. It is not a newly raised investment fund, a transaction price or a measure of real estate holdings alone.

What changes for BGO?

For commercial property investors, the most direct impact is the rebranding of BGO, a manager of office, industrial, multifamily, retail and other real estate investments. BGO reported approximately $100 billion in assets under management alongside Bell Partners as of June 30, according to its corporate website.

The GreenOak name has a history in property investment. Sun Life acquired GreenOak Real Estate in 2018 and combined it with Bentall Kennedy, creating BentallGreenOak. That business subsequently shortened its name to BGO. The newly announced GreenOak identity will now encompass the broader investment platform rather than only the real estate business.

The company said established investment teams, strategies and client relationships will continue to define the combined platform, supported by common global distribution. It did not announce immediate sales of properties, changes to individual fund mandates or new acquisitions tied to the rebranding.

Broader reach for institutional capital

The decision comes as investment managers seek to provide institutional clients access to multiple asset classes through a single platform. In GreenOak’s case, real estate equity and debt will sit alongside infrastructure and credit capabilities under one corporate identity.

Whether the consolidation ultimately changes real estate investment decisions, personnel or capital allocation remains to be seen. For now, the confirmed development is a coordinated brand and platform transition, not a merger with an outside buyer.
