The New Mexico MLS (NMMLS) announced that it will make floor plans a required element of all residential, rental, and multifamily property listings.
According to NMMLS, the decision is based on consistent requests by buyers having a floor plan available for review would help in deciding whether to purchase a property. NMMLS added it is the first US Multiple Listing Service to offer this feature, which is a standard feature in other countries including the UK, Australia and Sweden.
“At NMMLS, we are committed to delivering the highest quality data and media to consumers, and this initiative is a major step forward in achieving that goal,” said Megan E. McFarlane, executive director of NMMLS. “Requiring floor plans on listings ensures that every buyer in New Mexico has access to the tools they need to make better decisions. This move also ensures our brokers remain on the cutting edge, delivering a superior listing experience for their clients. NMMLS is proud to be a leader in this space and excited to set a new standard for our industry.”
Why? Are they turning us into caravans? People need to view the property. If we were to mismeasure would be be sued? We are not architects
And the cost of every home just went up and many sales delayed by the time and expense of producing the floor plans. Bad idea.
And who is going to pay for that? Another needless expense in an already difficult market. That’s where the DOJ should be focusing — the expense of title insurance, needless administrative expenses, etc.
Thank you. I know I don’t want my master bed next to the 2nd biggest bedroom, my oldest kids bedroom and I have to go in to find out. A waste of everyone’s time.
Been in the business for over 35 years, and actually, I have always done them. New technology is amazing. Clients always comment on how it helps them.
Right, so provide them as reasonably available and as a service, not as a rule, requirement and mandatory expense. No one’s stopping you
Another reason the NAR and related MLS’s should be closed down, with a complete fresh new entity based on Members Votes only, not some agenda oriented committee making decisions affecting paying Agents!
This is just ridiculous. Another thing we can be sued for if we’re wrong. This is a bad decision. Can the MLS’s just lay off making new rules, demands, requirements, limitations, and costs for us for five minutes? I’m honestly sick of rules like this.
